Mario Badescu Skin Care

Mario Badescu was a Romanian chemist and cosmetologist who opened his beauty salon in New York City in 1967. It did not take long for his products to be noticed and, soon enough, he was treating the most famous people in the States.

His expertise in both chemistry and cosmetology gave him a different perspective on skin care. In the development of his treatments designed to make the skin clean, rejuvenated and radiant, he took into account the chemical structure and complexity of the skin.

The skin care expert created treatment lines for all types of skin: oily, dry, sensitive or combinations of these. But he did not stop there. Mario Badescu also offered customized treatments and European-style facials that he became famous for. He worked tirelessly in his laboratory, testing out various ingredients to obtain his desired result. The formulas he came up with are based on botanical extracts and have remained unchanged ever since they were created. Everything he developed, he thoroughly tested in the laboratory and, only when absolutely certain of the product’s safety, would he go on to test it in his salon. Furthermore, the company has a strict policy against testing the products on animals.   

The skin care brand ranked 43rd out of 200 brands in the US and The Dermatology Review notes that there have been very few complaints against the products. Customers seem to keep coming back for more, creating a cult following.

Among celebrities, here are a few that use Mario Badescu products: Oprah, Martha Stewart, Cher, Jenifer Aniston, Kate Moss, Eva Longoria, Natalie Portman, Sharon Stone and Sarah Jessica Parker. Martha Stewart is one of the brand’s most loyal customers, having used the Mario Badescu salon and spa for 40 years. Paris Hilton has also recently bought 70 bottles of Honey Moisturizer (at $88) in one go.

One product that has gained many good reviews is the blackhead remover called Silver Powder. This is applied with the help of a cotton pad and you have to leave it on for 10 minutes. Then you wipe it off with a toner (don’t try this with water, because it does not work) and that is it. If you use it two or three times a week, after the first week, your skin will be completely clean. And what’s more, this wonderful result is obtained totally pain free.
