The week of the Romanian diaspora in Argentina – The most appreciated Romanian Artists by the Argentine public Romanian film on the Argentinian big screens having more success abroad than home During the 11th BAFICI, the International Independent Film Festival, held in March and April 2009 in the city of Buenos Aires, three Romanian films were shown: Radu Muntean's "Boogie" (2008), "Hooked" (2008) by Adrian Sitaru and "Elevator" (2008) by George Dorobantu. These three films reflect in some way, not only part of the current Romanian culture, but the identity of the incipient Romanian cinema.

After years of very low cinematographic production due to the communism implanted in the country, the cinema is a recent industry. However it is possible to enjoy their modest productions and be enriched thinking about the context in which they are produced and consumed. These films have been made with few elements, little props and very low budget, which allows us to enjoy another perspective to which we are not generally exposed in the field of cinema.

Romanian cinema is very popular in Argentina, so that, in the latest edition of the Festival Internacional de Cine de Mar del Plata, was awarded the Romanian film director Cristian Mungiu, while director Radu Gabrea has participated as a special guest at the Festival of Political Films in Buenos Aires, in April 2013.

The first Romanian film festival was organized by the Romanian Embassy in Buenos Aires in collaboration with the Fundaciòn Cinemateca Argentina, between 20 and 26 October, at Cine Arte BAMA (Av. Roque Saenz Pena 1145). In this edition there were presented six Romanian films made in recent years. The cycle consisted of the latest Romanian film productions, many of them are winners of important international festival. Tudor Giurgiu, special guest of the festival from Romania, film director and producer, is a member of the European Film Academy.

Tudor Giurgiu is also the founder and president of Romanian Film Promotion Association (APFR), which organizes the Transylvania International Film Festival - TIFF. Tudor Giurgiu was present during the screenings of the films "The Japanese Dog", "Why me?" - which also opened the festival -  "The world is mine" and participated in a question and answer session with the audience after each screening.
