The house has an interesting and modern design, but it is also cost effective and energy efficient. It is built with materials of the highest quality, but it is surprisingly not very expensive. Furthermore, the new technologies that it incorporates allows for very low energy consumption.
Everything is well thought out and organized in this house. The furniture in the living room is also the stairs to the bedroom, while the kitchen appliances are embeddable. This means that although the model house is no bigger than 48 m2, it has plenty of space.
The ambiance is also very pleasant as the big windows allow a lot of natural light to come. Surprisingly, it almost seems like it is lighter inside the house than outside. This is due to the way the house and the windows are positioned. Plus, the front wall is made entirely out of glass.
It is called an ecological house because it doesn’t pollute the environment and because it has its own resources for producing energy. Everything, from its shape that resembles a roof, to the fact that its foundation is made of logs was thought out in order to reduce costs. The roof-shape has the purpose of collecting water that can be used for washing, while the water tank and the boiler are buried, saving a lot of space on the inside. The exhaust hood not only absorbs the steam from cooking but retrieves the heat and puts it in the heating system. This way, the air that is released outside is clean and unpolluted.
The house also has solar panels and other installations which produce the energy needed for the appliances in the house.
Cătălin Butmălai is the one who led the team of architects that invented this model. He says that he was interested in creating a healthy, secure and sturdy family home. He was inspired by traditional architecture from Romania and abroad and adapted the design to the needs of the present.
