Odeon Palace - The Restaurant "Zahana 33"

If you bear steps on Splaiul Unirii down to Timpuri Noi and arrive on the old former street  that was called „Livada cu duzi” (the orchard with mulberry trees ), you'll find a beautiful palace, which you will definitely arouse the nostalgia of times when the  music of soul and spree combine harmoniously with the spirit of those times. Here in the Suburb Mandravela, would be born  „The Magic Bird” of the Romanian music, Maria Tanase.

The building of the palace is an architectural monument, built in 1869 by a French architect, Alexis Godillot. In 2012 the building was renovated, restored and converted into a large restaurant with several elegant halls. Since December 2014, the ensemble „Odeon Palace” is parted in several rooms with clear destination: Zahana 33, Florian Salon, Royal Salon, Amadeus Salon  and the Summer Garden.

The Restaurant "Zahana 33" was born from the desire to bring something of the picturesque „Little Paris” of yore  both through hospitality and also through the specifics of the kitchen. Zahana, 100 years ago, was in fact a tavern located beside slaughterhouses where there were „specialties of butchery” and  “fine goodies“ with whom the boyars of old have feasted.

The restaurant aims to take over the specific of the interwar period combining Romanian traditional recipes with the refined French cuisine. Sophisticated menus, delicious desserts, tasteful arrangements, all under the slogan: „When the chef is an artist and cuisine is an art.” „Liver terrine with jam from small onion”, „Boyar's Tuslama”, ‚Boyar's minced meat croquette in caul”, „Milk of bird”, „Pancakes Queen Mary’ are some names of dishes what make the delight of the palate kitchen.

At Zahana 33 you will feel like in a movie of the old Bucharest where is heard in the background the endearing voice of Maria Tanase and the other artists from the interwar period”, says Veronica Pascale (Marketing & Events Manager). At „Odeon Palace” you can listen live music, fiddler old music, folk music, the music of the old villages or processed music.
