Snow melters are an effective solution for removing it from over-crowded urban areas. They have been on the world market for decades and have been used in Romania before 2012, when the concept of Urban Snow Melter was born.
From this point of view, the invention of the two Romanians is far from revolutionary. However, the production of a 100% Romanian snow melting machine has a special advantage, namely that the manufacturing companies have adapted the price to the Romanian market. Thus, these melters are now available in the country at the half price they had been purchased so far.
In this respect, although they have been produced since 2013, so far, only local authorities in Focşani and Târgovişte use the Romanian snow melting machines. That is precisely why the three producing companies want to popularize the product hoping to succeed in spreading it on the market. Of course, the journey is tedious because contracts with sanitation or de-icing firms are long lasting and the companies in question usually have their own machines already purchased and their own distribution networks already established.
However, at such a favorable price, it is hard to believe that Urban Snow Melter will not become the main snow melting machine in Romania, especially as technically, the melter is in no way inferior than the external competitors: it can process a similar amount of snow as the Canadian or Russian melters (considered the best on the market), it consumes little energy and is more practical than the trucks traditionally used for this operation. Under these circumstances, the future Urban Snow Melter should be a shinny one on the Romanian market, although we must not forget the old proverb that says no one is a prophet in his own country.
