The history of the Licorna Winehouse begins 100 years ago with the dream of Nicolae Nicolau in which the ruler Constantin Brancoveanu asked him to build a wine cellar in order to produce a black wine like the rooster singing in his yard. The mansion built during 1907 - 1909 by Italian artisans, stone sculptors houses today in its cellars the wine matured in oak barrels and three stainless steel tanks with a capacity of 2000 - 3000 liters.
The winemaking center built in 2013 has an annual capacity of 150 tons and a bottling capacity of 1000 bottles per hour. Licorna Winehouse use as a brad the graphic representation of a unicorn, a mythological beast with miraculous powers: it cures the diseases, cleanses the evil and gives life. The same features are transmitted to the wine produced from the 30 hectares and the cultivated grape varieties are Feteasca Regala, Sauvignon Blanc, Pinot Gris, Tămâioasa Româneasca, Feteasca Neagra, Merlot, Cabernet Sauvignon, Sangiovese.
Licorna Winehouse products are in the range: Bon Viveur, Serafim, Anno, Collaj from the big commercial chains but also online in specialized stores.
Serafim is a range of wines produced from grapes manually harvested and sorted, vinified according to classical methods and produced in a limited series. Unicorn Winehouse won with Serafim - Sauvignon Blanc the gold medal at the Berliner Wine Trophy - 2017, Serafim - Feteasca Neagră won the silver medal at the Decanter World Wine Awards - 2018 and won the gold medal at the Strugurele de Aur Festival (Golden Grape Festival) - 2016, Vinvest - 2016 and at the Vinul.ro Awards.
White and pink Licorna are wines for parties and events, they are light, fresh wines.
Bon Viveur is a blend between Chardonnay and Sauvignon Blanc, produced in a limited edition of 6000 bottles and awarded with the silver medal at the Wine Awards.ro - 2017. Anno represents a range of white wines: Chardonnay and Sauvignon Blanc and the wines for dessert are from the Cabernet Sauvignon and Tămâioasa Româneasca varieties. It is a sweet awarded with the silver medal at the Decanter World Wine Awards – 2018.
