At the initiative of the great musicians, the conductor and director of the Romanian Opera from Timisoara, Nicolae Boboc and Ion Românu, conductor and director of Timisoara’s Banat Philharmonic's in the 1968-1969 season is the first edition of the Festival "Timişoara Muzicală", thought to be a highlight of the year.
After the Vetch edition, the festival is hold annually and in 1993 will receive an international character, preserved to this day. In 2016 will celebrate his 41th edition.
The Festival opens with the opera Turandot by Giacomo Puccini on October 9, having as guests the tenor Kamen Chanev and soprano Dragana Radakovic.
The ballet Pagliacci coupled with the opera Cavalleria rusticana is scheduled on October 12 from 19.00. On October 19 2016 is scheduled the successful musical Beauty and the Beast, a co-production with the National Theatre of Timisoara.
The famous opera Aida by Giuseppe Verdi (you can watch a fragment by clicking here), having as guest’s tenor Kamen Chanev and mezzo-soprano Mirouslava Yordanova, it being presented on October 23 from 18.00.
The series of events continues with Johann Strauss operetta, The Gypsy Baron, scheduled for October 26. Soprano Carmen Gurban, tenor Călin Brătescu and mezzo-soprano Mirouslava Yordanova are invited for the opera Adriana Lecouvreur by F. Cilea on October 28, title which ends the XLI edition of the Festival.
