The Nokia conglomerate, which has developed a center with more than 1,600 employees on the Bega river, will focus much of the company's 5G research at the respective location, being extremely confident in the capabilities of Timișoara’s IT specialists to successfully contribute to this innovation.
Globally, the use of the 5G technology is considered a matter of time, but the way it will be launched on the market and the norms that it will have to adhere to have not yet been put in place. Constant consultations are being carried out in this regard as well as in relation to the way in which the technology will be optimized, which is what Nokia also intends to do in Timişoara.
Practically, 5G means a data speed that can exceed 1 Gbps on radio waves. Specifically, this speed is achieved by dividing and placing the data across multiple frequencies in parallel, thus increasing both the data speed and the amount of data that can be sent. Specialists from Timişoara will attempt to test these assumptions and provide practical solutions that would make 5G technology accessible and usable to as broad of an audience as possible.
The contribution is an important one, even if it will be done under Nokia's auspices, especially since the technology tests performed in Timișoara certify the huge potential that Romania offers especially in the IT sector.
