”Dineu cu proști” (Dinner with fools) is a piece always current. Firstly the quality of writing and, undoubtedly, because of the transparency of the action, easily adaptable in any possible society. The main character is a big naive, he is part of the standard characters that were embodied by the greatest artists of all time.
What delights in this piece is the confrontation between the cynicism of those who believe themselves that are the core of society and ordinary people, reserved, intelligent but shy, potential creators who find themselves face to face.
We can even laugh at the “dinner” ... but also hide a discreet cry when we realize that moral superiority, in our world, is ensured by clean, honest, simple and generous people. Laughter and buff irony represents the tonic aspects of this confrontation. We laugh and we are glad that justice has the last word. The fool of this piece, who arouses laughter at the end, turns out to be the one who believed that he is superior and unshakable.
We can say that it's a bitter comedy, yet I am convinced that we are going home marked by a blessed catharsis comic.
The conclusion of the piece allows us to embrace the naive and the poor one, Francois Pignon. The other characters are each representative of today's world in all its dimensions, but all of them all submissive to the conflict and the tension between the two heroes - Pierre Brochant and Francois Pignon.
