The well-known German oenologist Oliver Bauer, together with his wife Raluca, founded in 2012 the Bauer Winery, situated in the Drăgășani vineyard on a surface of five hectares, where native grape varieties are cultivated such as: Crâmpoșie Selecționată, Fetească Neagră, Negru de Drăgășani and international grape varieties: Sauvignonasse, Sauvignon Blanc, Cabernet Sauvignon, Merlot, Petit Verdot.
The winery is equipped with modern technology that allows the wine making of small quantities of grapes and it has a capacity of 25 000 bottles per year. The oenologist's intention is to reduce the influence of the technique to a minimum in the wine making process to allow the development of "natural creativity".
Bauer Winery's portfolio includes: Sauvignonasse, Sauvignon Blanc, Crâmpoșie Selectată, Rose from Negru de Drăgășani, Orange, Cabernet Sauvignon, Merlot, Petit Verdot, Fetească Neagră. The Orange wine, obtained from Sauvignonasse grapes is 40 years old, expressing the values of the Bauer Winery: character and authenticity.
The location of the winary on the hills near the city of Drăgășani and the special view over the Olt River, allows the owners to organize wine tourism activities during any season.
