The heatwave will continue to impact Romania on Tuesday, July 21, as the National Meteorological Administration (ANM) maintains its warnings for high temperatures and severe thermal discomfort across several parts of the country.
According to meteorologists, maximum temperatures of up to 37°C are expected in the areas covered by the warnings, while the Temperature-Humidity Index (THI) may exceed the critical threshold of 80 units, significantly increasing the perceived heat. In some regions, tropical nights are also forecast, with minimum temperatures remaining above 20°C.
Health experts recommend avoiding direct sun exposure between 11:00 a.m. and 6:00 p.m., drinking plenty of fluids, wearing lightweight, light-colored clothing, and limiting strenuous outdoor activities. Particular attention should be given to children, older adults, and people living with chronic medical conditions, who are considered the most vulnerable during periods of extreme heat.
Authorities also advise against leaving children or pets inside parked vehicles and encourage regular welfare checks on people who may be at greater risk from the high temperatures.
Meteorologists continue to closely monitor weather conditions and may update warnings as the situation evolves. Citizens are encouraged to follow official updates issued by the National Meteorological Administration and the relevant public authorities.
