Although Romania, in recent years, has built itself a favorable image in terms of business performance but also the professionalism of its workforce, foreign investments are still at a low level in the country, far from the peak recorded before the economic crisis. Thus, the Romanian Government is trying to implement several strategies to re-attract such investments. One of these strategies is investromania (www.investromania.gov.ro), a site designed specifically to facilitate foreign investors' access to the key aspects of investing in Romania.
Conceived as a modern information portal, the site is constructed exclusively in English and covers five main categories: "Why invest", a section that wishes to present reasons for investing in Romania and the advantages of doing so; "Business in Romania", a section that gives an overview of the entire business environment in the country, focusing on the most developed and profitable sectors; "Government Support", where investors can find out what facilities the Romanian government has to offer them in order to facilitate their investment; "Life in Romania", a section that talks about the living standards in the country and skill level of the country workforce; finally, "Newsroom", is a standard section showing news and press releases related to the Romanian economic environment.
Of course, besides these broad categories, the site contains an "About us" section that comes to explain the purpose of the site and the mission of the Department for Foreign Investment and Public-Private Partnership, while the "Contact" tab invites investors to liaise directly with specialists from the respective department that can provide additional information on how to start investing.
Obviously, all these sections also contain a number of sub-sections, which go more in depth with regard to each topic, thus trying to offer investors a diversified range of opportunities in terms of their investment options.
Moreover, in the future, investromania aims to host a database containing information related to all industrial parks in Romania, as well as information about existing investors in each region. The declared goal of the site is not only to promote Romania on grounds of its cheaper labor force, but rather to show concrete evidence that Romania is not a cheap country, but a country focused on quality and results.
