Born in Maastricht, Netherlands, into a family of musicians, André Rieu is the world's most successful violinist and the best-selling classical musician of all time. It owns the largest private orchestra in the world and has sold more than 40 million albums and DVDs.
The international launch came in 1994 with the CD "Strauss & Co". Since then it has received more than 400 Platinum and 171 Gold Awards. It has more than 1.2 million fans on Facebook.
In his concerts he plays the most beautiful waltzes by Johann Strauss and Franz Lehár, world renowned hits from musicals and movies, most beloved opera and operetta arias and folk music from all decades.
André was named "King of Waltz". "Johann Strauss is my favorite composer of all time." In his concerts, André plays the violin, directs his orchestra and is a charming "conférencier", which will interact with the audience after every song, as you can see in this clip.
André plays a Stradivarius violin built in 1732. "I love this instrument. It reminds me of opera singer Maria Callas - very passionate."
Every year, André, his Johann Strauss Orchestra, choir and international soloists sustain about 100 concerts all over the world, in front of over 1 million people.

After the huge success from last year, André Rieu will perform in Constitution Square in Bucharest on 11 and 12 June 2016 from 20:30.
