Pancakes are far from being a delicacy. Virtually anyone who wants to cook this dish needs just a few basic ingredients and possibly an internet connection, where they can find pancake recipes by the thousands. Although it is a very basic product, there are many people who want to taste a pancake outside their own home. Thus, the dish is often ordered at restaurants as dessert, or bought from so-called pancake shops, a relatively new concept, which offers the customer a wide range of combinations and tastes in terms of pancakes.

Maison des crepes, however, takes things to the next level, attempting to revolutionize the public's perception of this basic dish. First of all, the idea of ​​creating a restaurant instead of a pancake shop entails a certain level of elegance as well as a certain dose of complexity with regard to the proposed dishes. Well, this is exactly the original element on which the founders of the Maison des crepes based their business on. Thus, the accent falls on the French tradition of the so called crepes, as well as on culinary innovation and surprising combinations.

Consequently, the menu contains over 20 types of crepes and pancakes, making a clear distinction between these two strands, while the variety of products is changed twice a year, precisely to keep things interesting and to constantly surprise the clientele. Automatically, the environment is another element that brings things to a different level, transforming the experience into a fine dinning one. As part of the promotion tactics utilized by the restaurant one can highlight the fact that it boasts to using local ingredients and offers both vegetarian or even vegan dishes.

The idea seems to have caught onto the local market, the first restaurant of this kind being opened in December 2016 in Bucharest, followed by another one along with the positive reaction from the public. Maison des crepes founders are planning to expand their business outside of the capital, hoping to take this concept to the US market within about seven years.
