Viile Sudului Winery, wine tourism on the banks of the Danube River

In the southern part of Romania, a few kilometers from the city of Zimnicea, you can find the Viile Sudului – Intervitt Winery, a part of the Interagro group. It is a new winery with 360 hectares of young vines and in the future the company expects to reach a cultivated area of 500 hectares and a production capacity of 20 000 hectoliters per year.

The vine bathed by the sun rays descend on terraces to the Danube River in a breathtaking view. The cultivated grape varieties are: Sauvignon Blanc (54 ha), Crâmpoşie (67 ha), Chardonnay (17 ha), Royal Fetish (6 ha), Pinot Gris (5 ha), Riesling (17 ha), Cabernet Sauvignon (90 ha), Merlot (45 ha), Fetească Neagră (26 ha), Pinot Noir (27 ha), Shiraz (7 ha).

The winemaking technology is the latest generation, with a wine cellar with a storage capacity of 2.5 million liters of wine, along with the two bottling lines with a capacity of 6000 bottles / hour. The company has 100 permanent employees, and the grape harvested mechanized / automated, except for the plots with the grapes for the premium wine segment, manually harvested, in special boxes.

Viile Sudului - InterVitt Winery already have several wine ranges on the market: Viile Sudului (entry-level range), Brize du Danube, Nobilitas and Divinitas.

In Zimnicea city, the Ineragro group developed oenological tourism by operating a floating pontoon, where it docks a 5-star cruise ships with German and Austrian tourists. Intergro Holding has several cruise ships that carries out cruises on the Danube River from Cazane to Prut River in the Republic of Moldova. Guests can stop at the winery, where they have the opportunity to taste the wines produced here.

On the shore of the Suhaia pond, near Zimnicea city tourists have the opportunity to spend a relaxing stay in the floating hotel, where the charm of the place captures you and the taste of traditional dishes brings you a unique sensorial experience, accompanied by the local traditional folkloric band and Viile Sudului wines.
