Transfagarasan is the road made by Nicolae Ceausescu to surpass Transalpina, the legendary king’s road. The road, due to its position, conserves the essence of the history till nowadays. It links Wallachia to Transylvania, starts from Curtea de Arges and finished at Sibiu, across the Carpathians, passing along amazing landscapes, huge rocks, the Poenaru fortress, the Vidraru Lake and dam, Balea Lake, and a unique winding road that goes beyond 2000 meters.
The three famous presenters of Top Gear, Jeremy Clarkson, Richard Hammond and James May, declared to be «the most amazing road we have ever seen», followed by the filming took place here for scenes of "Ghost Rider 2", Nicolas Cage’s movie, the next important event that was established is the “Transfagarasan Speed World Record”, the ride on the dream road of Fabio Barone, the president of Ferrari Club Passione Rossa. Although not a professional driver, Fabio has already registered a success with the circuit of Nurburgring made in only eight minutes with a "testa rossa" of Maranello.
The preparations for the race on Transfagarasan began a year ago and now everything is prepared in order to organize the closure of the legendary road to set a record. Open only two months a year because of the weather conditions, for one day Transfagarasan becomes a racetrack and hosts a challenge ever attempted so far: a world speed record in a Ferrari 458 Italy.
During the presentation was unveiled the special livery designed for the Ferrari 458 Italy chosen for the record and prepared by Leo Motors of Rome in collaboration with the German engineer Capristo. The car design includes a lot of vampire canines like those of Dracula and bats coming out of the engine, in order a scary image.
Now the "testa rossa" is faster thanks because she lost weight of about 150 kg thanks to the intensive use of carbon, special exhaust pipe, has also the electronic part reviewed and airbox increased to contrast the air rarefaction at over 2000 m altitude.
The race will take place on Monday, August 3, 2015, and to score a new record it will be made even a documentary, based on what has already happened last year at the Nurburgring.
