Transylvania is a region with a special type of appeal, being probably better known globally than Romania itself. Thus, any new tourist idea, built around Transylvania, has all the premises of succeeding. When it comes to Transylvania Train, the concept is all the more attractive, as the railway linking the various Transylvanian landmarks is extremely picturesque, crossing whole areas of wild or even virgin nature.
Of course, the overall experience is far more than just a train ride. As the circuit lasts for only 5 days, the schedule is quite busy, with 20 fortifications to visit and 15 traditional workshops to attend on top of the 600 km journey. Consequently, the touristic experience is indeed outstanding, the specificity of Transylvania being transmitted through all the 5 senses. Travelers will thus be exposed to the traditions, values and culture of Transylvania, they will taste the Saxon traditional cuisine and will take part in memorable performances and concerts organized in special locations such as fortified churches or the center of the medieval towns visited.
This year, Transylvania Train will start its journey on August 22 and will comprise the following route: Brașov - Mureni - Sighişoara - Mediaş - Alba Iulia - Sebeş - Sibiu – Făgăraş. On August 26 the train will end its journey back at Braşov’s railway station. During the trip, tourists will be accommodated in 3 and 4 star hotels from the visited cities and will taste local dishes with each stop.
The price for the experience is EUR 780 per person, and the seats are clearly limited.
