Over time, the settlement was developed with the contribution of all abbots who have succeeded at the head of the monastery. In 1802, the abbot Timotei begin the construction of the "Saint Nicholas" church, which ends in 1815. A church with eight towers, with an open porch and medieval painting.
In 1804, the abbot Saint Pious Gheorghe built the second church on the island, which will be called "Saint Lazarus". A small church, slim and tall, which impresses with its outstanding architecture and rich exterior decoration, carved in stone. Also the interior is admirable, where mural painting represent images of saints and monks but also the scene of "Universal Judgment". This church, which belongs to the monastery’s cemetery is very beautiful, is like a jewel shining among the crosses and tombs.
Between 1818-1850, arrives abbot Saint Hierarch Calinic (canonized in 1955), who builds the "Saint Gheorghe" church on the other island of the lake, the surrounding walls, the building of the abbey and the monks' cells. A great monk and cultural personality, during his time, inside the abbey, was founded a library and a school of painting.
The monastery ensemble also includes a chapel dedicated to "Assumption of Mary", another chapel located in the house of abbot Gheorghe, dedicated to "The entrance to the church", the chapel "Saint John the Apostle", the Saint Hierarch Calinic's relics, his memorial house, and the memorial house of the writer Gala Galaction.
The monastery museum contains objects of religious heritage, priestly vestments, books, manuscripts, old charters, paintings, paintings, vases and ceramic relics.
The monastery cemetery, full of flowers and mysterious and picturesque tombstones, houses in peace and quiet, the graves of some famous cultural and monastic personalities. Cernica Monastery is a corner of heaven where the angels descend to comfort the souls of those who come to meditate and to charge with positive energy.
