The Rotenberg Winery established in 2007 covers an area of 23 hectares in the communes of Ceptura and Fântânele in Prahova County. The rich soil and the special climatic conditions provide similar qualities to the famous wine-growing areas of Bordeaux or Tuscany. The Rotenberg Winery have 6 tons of grapes per hectare annually and the grapes are harvested and selected manually.
The winery, restored in 2007 has two overlapping cellars that allow a gravitational flow in which the wine is not aggressed by the pumps. The cultivated varieties are Merlot, Cabernet Franc, and Cabernet Sauvignon. The Rotenberg winery ranges are Rose Rapsod, Merlot Rapsod, Rose Arlequin, Merlot Arlequin, Merlot Menestrel, Rose Rotenbeg, Merlot Notorius, Merlot Emeritus, Merlot Classic and Merlot Primus. The Rotenberg Winery received in 2010 the silver medal at the “Mondial du Merlot” Competition in Switzerland for Rotenberg Merlot - 2006.
Emeritus Merlot is a wine from a single vineyard: the Stelus Hill. It is a wine with aromas of cherries and hints of vanilla and chocolate, a wine unfiltered and aged in the bottles.
Primus is a "terroir" wine made from grapes from the Oancei Valley, with an old wine of over 55 years. It is an unfiltered wine, aged for 4 months in Romanian oak barrels and 2 months in the bottles. It is a premium wine produced in a limited edition of 1500 - 2000 bottles.
The Menestrel range is a more accessible range, available in the varieties: Merlot, Rose, Blanc de Merlot.
Notorius Merlot is a wine fermented for 5 weeks and aged for 18 months in well-burned Romanian oak barrels.
Frank - Cabernet Franc is an elegant wine with aromas of strawberries and plums, maturated 24 months with aromas of pepper and violets.
The Rapsod Merlot range is an unfiltered wine, fruity with an intense taste of cherries, black currants and cherries.
On request, the Rotenberg Winery offers wine cellar visits, wine tastings at the mansion and at the restaurant; you can taste specific products of traditional Romanian gastronomy that best accompany Rotenberg wine. Tourists passionate about wine and its production can try to make their favorite winery blend of Merlot, Cabernet Sauvignon and Cabernet Franc and even their own wine label.
