Lechburg Wine Cellar - Transylvania

The story of the wine from Transylvania has its origins from the oldest times, Lechința Vineyard being one of the most famous vineyards. The Lechburg winery is located in the village of Lechința, Bistrița - Năsăud County, at the geographical intersection of the road between Bistrița, Cluj - Napoca and Târgu - Mureș.

The Lechburg Wine Cellar preserve the spirit of the old Saxon tradition dating back to 1962, it was revitalized by the Guarato family from Italy, in 2015 they purchased the winery, relaunching viticulture in this area by caring for the environment and tradition, maintaining the balance between tradition and new wine production technology.

The Lechburg Wine Cellar has a cultivated area of 70 ha and cultivates the grape varieties such are: Pinot Gris, Sauvignon Blanc, Gewurztraminer, Riesling de Rhin, Chardonnay, Pinot Noir, Muscat Ottonel, Feteasca Regala and Feteasca Neagra. Lechburg wine won two gold medals at the Festival Wine at the Mountain, the fourth edition of 2019 with Gewurztraminer – 2017 and Pinot Noir - 2017.

The Lechburg Wine Cellar is situated on a hill, surrounded by a park of firs, pines and chestnuts. It is a compact underground structure, with constant temperature and ideal conditions for wine maturation. It has a gravitational processing system and a 4-level construction: a ground floor, a semi - basement and two basement levels. It produces only Bio certificate DOC wine of which 20 % is red and 80% of the wine production is white wine.

Gewurztraminer is an Italian authentic grape variety produced in South Tyrol, from Termeno, a town in Bolzano. It is a strong aromatic wine produced from red grapes with a minimum maturation process of one year.

Pinot Noir is a fine ruby red wine with a scent of black currant and raspberries and an incense aroma.

Pinot Gris is a wine of French origin, probably a genetic mutation of Pinot Noir. It is an intense yellow wine with coppery reflections.

Chardonnay is an international wine that captures the features of the “terroir”, has an aroma of fresh fruit, peach, apple, nutmeg and hazelnuts; it is an elegant and velvety wine.

Riesling de Rhin is a wine of French origin from the Alsace Region, cultivated during the 15th-century in Germany.

Sauvignon is an authentic wine from Bordeaux area and its name derives from the French word "sauvage" - "wild."

Fetească Regală is a Romanian grape variety from Transylvania, possibly due to the natural cross between the varieties Feteasca Alba and Grasa de Cotnari. It has a yellow color with greenish reflections and floral aroma.
