Over time, the mysterious sanctuary has acquired several other names, including “The Temple of Destiny,” “The Temple of Fulfilled Prayers,” “The Monastery Carved in Stone,” and “The Șinca Veche Grotto.” It has even been called “The Temple of the Extraterrestrials” due to the many bizarre phenomena reportedly experienced there.
The temple has never been precisely dated, but it is believed to be more than 7,000 years old. The monastery, as an Orthodox place of worship, has existed since around 1742. The site attracts all kinds of visitors seeking unique spiritual spaces: pilgrims, spiritual seekers, believers, as well as archaeologists, speleologists, and dowsers who come to investigate the location and the strange, seemingly paranormal events associated with it.
Its architecture is considered unusual, while the interior contains religious elements from different eras and various parts of the world. The sanctuary is made up of nine altars and worship chambers decorated with strange carvings. The first chamber resembles a church with a vaulted ceiling hollowed out in the center, allowing sunlight to pour in beams before spreading throughout the room. The second chamber features a 10-meter-high inner tower that captures light through an opening above, directing it straight onto the altar.
Legends say that beneficial energies flow through the site. Symbols such as the Star of David and the Yin-Yang hourglass can be found there. Over the years, countless stories and legends have emerged around this mysterious place, along with testimonies from visitors who claim to have witnessed unusual events. It is said that if one prays there with sincerity and faith, wishes may come true or destiny may be revealed.
Many believe that the beneficial energies present both inside and around the sanctuary can help heal illnesses. The grass surrounding the temple is said to be charged with positive energy, while the milk from cows grazing nearby is believed to be tastier and healthier. Some theories venture even further into the paranormal, claiming that the temple may serve as a gateway for communication with beings from other dimensions.
