Telna Wine Cellar is located at 15 km from Alba Iulia, at the basis of the Apuseni Mountains in Ţelna village, Ighiu, Alba County. The wine cellar has over 200 years old, with historical testimonies about the transport of Telna wine in 1173 in the Province of Venice and also in Rome, being the favorite wine of the Pontiffs. Also in 1489 the wine of Telna was the wine served at the wedding of King Matias the Corvinus, the future king of Hungary.

The cellar of the Telna Winery was built in 1784 as part of the buildings built in the medieval Transylvanian style, from which the cellar and the mansion can be visited nowadays, as historical monuments from Medieval Ages, included on Romanian Historical National Monuments list. The cellar has an area of 150 meters in length and 6 meters in width, it is 25 meters below the ground level and it has a natural ventilation that allows to maintain a constant temperature of 11 - 12 degrees C and maintains a humidity of 90%.

Telna Wine Cellar has a cultivated area of 43 hectares and cultivated grape varieties are: Fetească Regală, Muscat Ottonel, Chardonnay and Sauvignon Blanc. The label of the Telna Wine Cellar are: Ţelna Wine Cellar, Nobil, Wine of Corvinus Hunedoara and Wine of the Baron.

The Corvinus Wine is a noble wine, inspired by the name of the younger son of Prince John of Hunedoara, Matia Corvinus, the legend said that this wine was served at the King's wedding with Transylvanian origins. It is a quality wine “that will treat the consumer as a king”, said the producers.

The Baron Wine produced and bottled by the Telna Wine Cellar is a wine produced for the Brukenthal National Museum from Sibiu, dating back to 1784, when Ţelna Wine Cellar was contemporary to the construction of the Brukenthal Palace (1778-1789) and the work of Baron Samuel von Brukenthal in Transylvania. The Baron wine combines the art of wine making with the history in a glass of wine.

Sauvignon Blanc wine has a reach yellow color with golden shades and green reflections, it has a captivating flagrance with a complex layers of intensity, given by the scent of the mature grapes. The taste is balanced, fresh and velvety. Muscat Ottonel presents all the characteristics of the grape variety it comes from.

Fetească Regală presents a delicate and persistent fresh fruit fragrance. It has a dry, pleasant fragrance with a slightly bitter and almond like final taste.

The wine cellar can be visited without a visit fee and the wines can be purchased directly from the wine cellar at reasonable prices.
