Dealu Mare Vineyard covers an area of 60 - 70 kilometers, reaching the area between Valea Călugărească and Mera / Vernești Valley, covering two counties: Ploiești and Buzău, an area of 14,500 hectares.

Basilescu name is related to the history of the Bucharest city, it designates today: a park, a church, a summer theater and a metro station. More than a century ago, the story of Basilescu Winery begins with Nicolae and Aristide Basilescu, father and son, who share the same ideals: integrity, love, revolutionary vision and devotion, all captured by Basilescu wine. Nicolae Basilescu, dean of the Faculty of Law in Bucharest during the interwar period, founded the current winery and his son, Aristide, the head of the Economics Department of the University of Bucharest continued the business until nationalization during the communist regime. The Basilescu family held the franchise for Romania of the House of St. Marceaux and Co. He restored the Brewery in Bucharest, transforming it into a natural champagne factory.

The family's properties were confiscated in 1949 and in 2003 Colette Basilescu, the heir of the family, came into possession of the vineyards and the mansion from Urlați. The current Basilescu Winery was built in 2008 and produces wines with DOC Dealul Mare, Pietroasa in which the terroir's imprint feels strong, generating a range of high quality wines. The cultivated area is 140 hectares, it has an annual production of 280 000 bottles of wine and a capacity of 520 hectoliters of wine.

The cultivated grapes varieties are: Fetească Neagră, Cabernet Sauvignon, Merlot, Burgund Mare, Fetească Albă, Fetească Regală, Chardonnay, Riesling Italian, Tămâioasă Românească, Busuioacă de Bohotin.
